In 1940 , Noah Calhoun and Allie Nelson , two teenagers from North Carolina who , despite living in two very different social environments , fell deeply in love and spent an unforgettable summer together before being separated , first by their parents , and more late in the war , although both remain alive in their hearts the memory of the other.When Noah returns years after the war, Allie is irrevocably gone from his life but not his heart.
